  • 1985 - 1989
    Marine animal management, study and care of dolphins, penguins, and sea turtles in aquariums located in the USA (Connecticut, Florida, California), France (Biot), and Italy (Riccione, Cattolica). 

  • 1989 - 1990
    Survey campaigns in collaboration with the Dept. BAU of Rome University "La Sapienza", on sea turtle nesting activity and marine turtle  conservation in Africa (Somalia, Sudan).

  • 1990
    Collaboration with  WWF ITALY on the Progetto Tartarughe (Sea Turtle Project) in Riccione, Policoro, Sardinia, and Sicily.

  • 1996
    Founder and director of the Lampedusa Turtle Rescue Center in Italy.

    Collaboration with Italian Universities - Rome, Bari, Bologna, Catania, Trieste- as well as international ones, in regards to sea turtle research, internships and thesis work for students.

    Organization of volunteer camps about sea turtle protection.

    Cooperation in research studies on sea turtle conservation and care.

  • 2002
    Participation and presentation of scientific papers on the study and treatment of sea turtles at the Annual Congress of the ISTS Symposium on Sea Turtle Biology and Conservation (USA, Malaysia, Crete, Mexico, Australia, India) and Mediterranean Conference on Sea Turtle Biology
    ( Italy, Turkey, Tunisia).

  • 2008
    Coordination and organization of the Mediterranean Sea Turtle Medicine Meeting in Lampedusa between the main sea turtle rescue centers in the Mediterranean.

  • 2010
    Coordination and organization of the Sea Turtle Medicine Workshop within the ISTS Annual Symposium on Sea Turtle Biology and Conservation.

  • 2011
    Coordinator of LdV TurtleVet Project, financed by the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Community, by Leonardo da Vinci Program,  between Spain, Italy, Croatia, Turkey for the development of skills of the vet operators involved in sea turtle care.

  • 2013
    Recipient of the Ed Drane Award for Volunteerism from the International Sea Turtle Society.
